The holidays are always a special time. A time to celebrate, enjoy one another's company and of course make our favorite holiday recipes. It is nearly impossible to remember a time when coffee wasn't a part of every holiday gathering. This year, we're going to take it up a notch with a few holiday themed beverage recipes.
Think about the various spices used in holiday baking. It usually comes down to a few key ingredients: clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, star anise, orange, and pumpkin. There are others of course, but these are the main staples for all sorts of holiday recipes. Mouth watering pumpkin spice lattes, candy cane coffee, peppermint mocha, red velvet hot chocolate to name a few!

For this recipe, we decided to use Symphonia Trumpet because of its complementary tasting profile of caramel, spice, and brown sugar. To start off, we washed and dried one medium sized orange. Peel the orange and tear the rind into small pieces or coarsely chop (our preferred method). We found that 1/2 inch sized pieces work great. Add your ground coffee, cloves, orange peel, sugar and set your coffee machine to brew as normal. The hot water will infuse the ground coffee with the orange and clove flavor. The results are fragrant and delicious.
A holiday hug in a mug. Enjoy!
